2023 Events Recap

As we wrap up the 2nd annual Drew Poet Foundation Michigan Golf Outing and begin to look forward to next year’s events, we would like to express our profound gratitude for the unwavering support we’ve received over the last four years, and the last few months especially. This year has marked our busiest and most successful string of events thus far. We continue to move forward, always with our mission in mind: to help raise awareness and find a cure for Ewing’s sarcoma.

First on the calendar was the 3rd annual Drew Poet Foundation California Golf Outing on Monday, April 24 at Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey, CA. The golf was great, the weather beautiful, and the banquet was first rate. Thank you to everyone who continues to make the California outing such a tremendous success! A special thank you to Suzie Zane without whom this event would not be possible. Everyone’s continued participation and support is appreciated beyond words. As a result, we were able to generate ~$7,500 for the Foundation! Photos from the event can be found here:

Moving ahead, on Thursday, June 22 we returned to Michigan for a Friends & Family Dinner at Rose's Restaurant in Canton, MI. The evening was fantastic, featuring a special dinner menu and cash bar. Thank you to everyone who came out for your support! A special thank you to the Richie Constantino family for hosting us! It was so nice to see everyone and to enjoy a great evening in support of the Foundation. We were able to raise ~$800 to help further our mission.

Finally, the 2nd annual Drew Poet Foundation Michigan Golf Outing closed out our 2023 event calendar on Sunday, June 25. The outing featured over 200 golfers spread across the three Fox Classic courses with a buffet and awards banquet at the beautiful Golden Fox at Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center in Plymouth, Michigan. The weather was beautiful and the pace of play perfect, making for another fun and successful outing.

So much work went into this year’s event starting many months back with preparation and planning. It became apparent early on that the scale of this year’s event would make for a daunting task, so thank you to everyone who so generously volunteered their time and worked so incredibly hard. The Foundation would especially like to thank the Walkley family for once again championing the Michigan golf outing, working tirelessly to realize the grand vision for this year’s event.

Thank you to Fox Hills for welcoming us back and hosting us again this year, and to all of our sponsors for their support! We’d especially like to thank our Presenting Sponsors: Frogger Golf, Great Rooms Designers and Builders, Amsted Rail, and the Glinski Family who’s generous support makes events like this possible. Thanks to everyone’s tremendous efforts, we were able to raise ~$16,000 for the Foundation. Photos from the event can be found here:

Finally, THANK YOU to all of the golfers, volunteers, and guests across the three Foundation events this year! We are incredibly grateful to all of you who continue to support the Foundation and its mission of raising awareness and finding a cure for Ewing’s sarcoma. The events this year marked an admirable step forward towards our ultimate goal, as we we raised a total of ~$24,300 across three events. As we reflect on these successes we are also looking forward to the years ahead. The California outing is targeting a February/March 2024 date at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (further details to come), and the Michigan outing will return to Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center in Plymouth, MI on June 23, 2024 (save the date!). Preparation starts today as we continue to explore ways to extend the reach and enhance the impact of the Foundation. Thank you again to everyone who continues to be a part of that.
